Jaycee Gossett | Dance Documentarian & Teacher
“To watch us dance, is to hear our hearts speak” ~Hopi Tribe
I am on a mission to dance the world. Every country has a dance. Every dance has a story. It is my dream to document them all.
I’ve committed my life to traveling around the world and using dance as a lens to experiencing new cultures. My passion for dance motivates me to study the roots of movement and discover who we are through our dance. The wealth of material I’ve collected during my trips is the platform for my teaching, writing, producing, and filming.
Through my experience, I’ve found that dance is a universal language and our birthright. It allows us to express who we really are. We dance to celebrate, for tradition, and when we mourn.
Sometimes we dance just because it feels so good.
My studies and travels have danced me through North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, and the South Pacific. My classes, workshops, and retreats are designed to make dance accessible, allowing the transformative power of the movements to heal the body, mind, and spirit.
Once upon a time I was a competitive Ballroom Dancer, becoming a National Finalist and World Semi Finalist in International Latin Pro/Am. My show, “Dance the World: Brazil” aired in 2011 on the Travel Channel.
